The Weekly Tri

THE WEEKLY TRI!!!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Remember that one time when I humbly asked that all emails sent out over the listserv be forwarded to an exec member first so as not to spam?  Then remember when BOTH KELLI AND I DID EXACTLY THAT WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF ONE ANOTHER THIS WEEK??!?!??????  Man, those two are total losers.  Ugh.  Smelly, smelly, losers.  With bad teeth.  And weird grins.  ew.

(I take full responsibility for these descriptions and they are made in jest, I do not and will never say any of those things about Kelli Marks.  She’s smells like peaches mixed with almond butter (assuming that that concoction actualy smells good)).

BUT SERIOUSLY!!!!  THOSE TWO!!!! ugh.

enough self-deprication.

THE WEEK THAT WAS:

-Anna Bisaro has a twin sister.  Her sister goes to Purdue.  At first glance, that would make her an evil twin.  However, she has been working for the good guys.  Apparently this human who shares 100% of her genetic makeup with one of our favorite people has access to super secret Purdue varsity athlete nutritional facilities.  That includes access to a chock-full of Gatorade recovery drinks, electrolyte drinks, etc.  AND SHE STOLE SOME!!!!!  (cue evil, but inspirational music) She sent it to Anna for us to use.  Talk to Anna if you want to drink electrolytes that have literally been taken away from Purdue atheletes.  We have their electrolytes.

-Huge props to the NU women’s swim team and our very own Jenny Wilson on their 8th place finish at Big Tens last week in Bloomington.  FYI, the Big Ten Network is airing the converage on Saturday 2/26 at noon if you want to watch!

THE WEEK TO BE:

-Chicago Restaurant week is happening in case any of you didn’t know.  That means really fancy restaurants are doing relatively cheap prix fixe meals.  Go eat.  I’ve been once and I’m going twice more.

-This just in from Nathan “Abdominal Muscles” Garrett: Come broaden your athletic horizons!  A few people have mentioned interest in live boxing and I have a match this Saturday the 26th 3pm at Ultimate Fitness, located at 823 Emerson.  Tickets are $12 with a student ID, $15 without.  You can buy them at the door or reserve them by emailing nathangarrett2012@u.northwestern.edu There are 12 fights, and I will not know until about 2:45 whether I’m boxing at 3 or as late as 4:30– so if you’re coming, come for the show.  Usually there is something for everybody from nice technical fights (aka girls having a tea party in the ring with dollies) to brawls (aka punch-the-other-guy-in-the-face-til-he-spits-out-his-teeth-and-throws-up boxing).  Good seats will be taken by 2:50.  Wear purple!  **Not for weak stomachs.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-If you are going to Nationals.  You NEED TO BE DRIVER CERTIFIED.  End of story.  We’re getting down to it folks.  Get certified.  Also, individually, look at the Google doc spreadsheet and fill out whether or not you have a bike, wetsuit, etc.  6 weeks.

-NU Tri is doing a fundraiser at BWW in Evanston on 3/8/11.  Look for some emails from Valerie and exec coming up.  Basics: invite as many people as you can, and a percentage of food purchases on that day will be donated back to the club.  This means you get to eat, and you get to go to races for cheaper.

SHOUT OUT OF THE WEEK:

KELLI MARKS.  FOR SMELLING LIKE PEACHES AND ALMOND BUTTER.
